We don't just talk about change; we make it happen

At Solarity, we believe in action, not just words. That's why we are proud to present our annual Community Impact Report – a testament to our unwavering commitment to the communities of Yakima and Kittitas Counties, as well as the surrounding areas we proudly serve.

From providing our members with keys to their forever homes to supporting critical causes through donations and sponsorships, our journey this past year was all about making a positive difference. But that's not all. Our incredible staff also dedicated their time and energy to volunteer initiatives that warmed hearts and brightened lives.

We look forward to sharing the remarkable stories and achievements that define Solarity's role as a force for good in our neighborhoods for many years to come.

Solarity wins 'Community Partner of the Year' award from Habitat for Humanity

Solarity Credit Union is proud to be honored as Community Partner of the Year by the Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity® during its annual Golden Hammer Awards.

Solarity Credit Union was awarded Community Partner of the Year by the Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity® during its annual Golden Hammer Awards Ceremony in September. The event recognizes those who make it possible for Habitat to serve people in the Yakima Valley in need of safe and affordable housing.

Solarity habitat for humanity

In March 2022, more than a dozen Solarity employees donated 92 hours to help Yakima mother Kristen Smith build her future home for herself and her three children with high needs. Because of the time needed to care for her children, Ms. Smith was struggling to donate the required hours to be eligible for the home.

Solarity Credit Union employees traded their work shifts for a tool belt and helped Ms. Smith work toward her dream of homeownership. From hanging drywall to installing a fence, the Solarity team thoroughly enjoyed helping her get the needed volunteer hours and watched with great anticipation when she moved in with her children in July.

“We are humbled to receive this recognition,” says Solarity’s President and CEO Mina Worthington. “We believe everyone should have a home of their own. To know that we played a small part in making a big difference in this mother’s life is special. It’s something our team will never forget.”

"It was really neat to be in a room full of people dedicated to serving others,” says Steve Brown, Solarity’s Chief Lending Officer, who received the award on behalf of the credit union. "What an honor.”

“Solarity is an organization that cares about our community, and this award recognizes that,” says Meloney Rosen, Executive Director of Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity®. “We can’t do what we do without our volunteers, and Solarity employees donating more than 90 hours made a real difference in this mom getting a place of her own to call home.”

In addition to volunteer hours in the past few years, Solarity Credit Union employees have donated nearly $30,000 to the non-profit. Employees are looking forward to the next build with the Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity®.
