2016-2017 Employee Community Partner: YWCA of Yakima

A warm meal. Clothes that fit. Fuel to get to a job interview. Giving back is important to Solarians, and there are countless ways to make small contributions that can change lives—and help people get back on their feet. Each year, our employees raise money and volunteer for a local nonprofit. For 2016 and 2017, our Employee Community Partner is the YWCA of Yakima. The YWCA primarily serves homeless survivors of domestic violence, giving women and children a safe, stable environment in which they can start to rebuild their lives.

Solarity offers so many ways to be involved in our community and organization. I have never seen an organization with more involved members of our community. I’m honored to be a part of such a giving organization that truly cares.”

We’re pretty passionate about financial education—go figure, right? We’re excited about our partnership with Junior Achievement of Washington. JA is committed to preparing young people for success by focusing on the economics of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Solarity employees have volunteered more than 140 teaching hours in 2015 and we can’t wait to help more of our local youth.

Random Acts of Kindness

Giving back to the community doesn’t just mean sponsoring an event, sometimes we like to do our own random acts of kindness. You may see us weeding public parks, donating needed supplies to a local animal shelter, giving out passes to the local pools, or maybe just paying for coffees around town. You never know—your next latté could be on us!
