What Is Transparency?
The definition of transparency as a behavior is openness, communication and accountability. Transparency is operating in such a way that it is easy for others to see what actions are performed. Solarity CU has really adopted an organizational-wide culture of being transparent from the CEO on down through the ranks to our front line staff. That personal conduct is a reflection of both the people and the Credit Union that they represent.
Authenticity, Honesty and Integrity
Being transparent is not trying to be something you aren’t but being authentic, honest and showing integrity to our members. When a mistake is made we own up to it and offer a solution to our members. We welcome criticism and are open to both positive and negative feedback; we are willing to address both with our members. This builds trust with our members as well with our fellow employees within the organization. Owning transparency with each other throughout the organization gives a clear, unhindered honesty that allows trust that we are all working together for our members and their experience. Our E-team has set the example of owning transparency by showing us who they really are and what they stand for. They are cultivating a community of people who are interested in providing a unique financial experience not only for our members but all future Solarity members. The best time to respond to a concern or increase transparency is now.
The Credit Union has really shown an interest in what our members are thinking by reaching out to them through our Member Experience Survey. We have given our members a chance to tell us how we are doing and responding to them right away. The best time to respond to a concern or increase transparency is now. When something is wrong we get in front and have entrusted our team to resolve the issue or find the person that can. Transparency doesn’t just help the organization become successful but will help each and every staff person become more successful.
